Guanacaste area, Tamarindo & more!

-Tamarindo

Best known for its surfing and parties

Although being a surfer is needed to enjoy the area of course, there is so many other places than the beautiful beaches. There a bunch of cute shops with handmade art, jewelry, clothes and all other types of authentic items from Costa Rica. Being that there are a vast amount of shops in this area you have a wider selection whereas the rural areas will be less pricey. Out of all the places I have visited in Costa Rica Tamarindo reminds me of quaint little US Beach town.

-Beaches

Tamarindo has some of the most beautiful beaches and my favorite part of this place was seeking for secret' spots! Renting a car or a buggy is the only way to discover these secluded beaches. Buggy rental available in town.

There are way too many beaches to see in one trip so I pulled out my Google maps and made a list of places which stood out to me. Starting off at Lola's restaurant it is literally on the beach. It was a great start because I got to get a drink, socialize, then off on to adventure.

On a dirt road that felt to go on forever. I only passed by a few cars on the way. Don't be afraid to get a little lost, that's the best part of adventuring off!

My personal favorite beach was Playa Negra. Breath taking views, neat rock formations, tide pools with small tropical fish, and best of all not a single other person there. The sand was multicolored pebbles but every beach was so uniquelydifferent. I'm looking forward to going back and discovering more beaches in Tamarindo to share!

- Mountains of Guanacaste

On this trip we left Tamarindo and headed northeast towards the mountains and cloud forest. Guanacaste has a little bit of everything. This makes it easy to do more because its not too far away and being able to experience two very different parts of Costa Rica while not having to travel far and give more time for adventures and to explore.

I found an amazing rural eco lodge in Canas Dulces mountains near Liberia, called Buena Vista. It was not too expensive for your own little cabin. Once you get there you'll want to stay at least two nights. Take a tractor ride to the natural built hot springs pool and enter a mineral mud bath which is a must but not required if your not into it. The mud regenerates your skin before you are relaxing in the hot springs watching zipliners fly overhead all included with your stay. $5 zipline, $10 horse back ride, and so much more. It is on a coffee farm and had really cool demonstrations of how people in Costa Rica live and lived many years ago. Bring a jacket because it is windy and cool up there!

View from my cabina!

-Rio Celeste

From Canas Dulces we headed to Rio Celeste for a day trip.

This was my absolute favorite waterfall & cloud forest I have ever been to! It was so majestic it took my breath away. It's only around $5 to $10pp to enter the park and you do not need a guide it's an easy path and there's other people doing it. I do suggest renting boots, it is always wet, misty and the path has 20cm deep puddles. You can find places as you drive up the mountain. It's not that much money but they want you to leave something important like ID so you bring the boots back. Here are some pictures and yes it's even better in person believe it or not!
