A little beach town full of views and wildlife.
I really enjoyed this place! It has a little bit of everything. Beaches, hotsprings, horseback riding, fishing, surfing, and hiking. To walk Manuel Antonio National Park it's around $15 per person to enter. You can hire a guide who will give you good information about the nature and wild life, and help you spot things. It isn't necessary though, the trail is easy to follow.
This town is mostly on a big mountain so some hotels can look like it's walking distance from the beach but it's not so much. There a little bus that goes up and down the mountain all day so it's easy to catch a ride. Some of the coolest restaurants are on top of that mountain with the most gorgeous view! I suggest going to atleast one of those.
If you're like me and have to be walking distance to the beach you can do so. When I go there I stay at the Jungle Beach Hotel. It's a simple place but has everything I would need plus it's in my budget. It has a pool with a poolside bar/cafe if I wanted a convenient place to eat. The monkeys were there everyday so I got an close up interaction with them. Be careful with white face money's especially! As cute as they are, they can be aggressive and you wouldn't want a nasty bite.
Playa Espadilla
This is the closest beach to the main town, it's also the most popular. My favorite thing to do at this beach was go to Mary's Rentals and rent a beach chair. Then, order food and drinks from the same place and it was brought right to us. It was so relaxing! Exactly what I needed out of my trip. This beach is very lively, in a good way. Its big enough so people aren't all in one spot but you get the convince to stay there all day and not have to bring much. There was a guy that walked up and down the beach with fresh cold pipas. What a great touch to our beach day!
My dad and daughter ordering pipas.
To get to Manuel Antonio I took a tiacopa bus ride that was about 3 hours from San Jose. It was so easy, just one bus ride and you are there in paradise!
